One should always look before leaping.

One can also read Mark Zenier's guide to the sci.electronics.* hierarchy
at ftp://ftp.eskimo.com/u/m/mzenier/seguide9706.txt

You could, um, ask your news client to search its groups list for the
word "electronics".

as well as the 8 or so sci.electronics ones (.design, .basics, .repair etc):
alt.electronics
aus.electronics
comp.hardware & comp.overclocking
alt.solar.photovoltaic
rec.antiques.radio+phono
rec.audio
alt.engineering.electrical
ieee.general
misc.industry.electronics.marketplace
rec.audio.tubes
free.uk.diy.domestic-appliance-repair
alt.technology.obsolete
alt.comp.hardware.overclocking

and just maybe free.uk.diy.nuclear-device.

Yahoo has newsgroups, too, such as the one for MSP430 users. But
I am not that familiar with them and they require registration.

Regards, Joerg.
