Actually

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-07-23/its-over-dems-reps-both-conspiring-bankrupt-america-and-destroy-our-future

In reality, both the Democrats and the Republicans are heavily influenced by wealthy Americans who want to pay less in taxes, and haven't got enough sense to realise that this means that the US isn't investing enough in its society to keep it operating as productively as it ought to.

The fact that they are wrecking the country in the process is a result, not an intention.

As always the solution is inflation.
Soon one Euro and / or Renminbi will buy a million dollars.

Or GBP :(

You will notice when that happens when they start printing 100,000 dollar notes.

I'm surprised it's worth anything *at all* given the way May hopelessly
bungled Brexit. I really struggle to accept that anyone can be genuinely
*that* incompetent.

Boris Johnson seems set to outdo her. She did at least have a rational aversion to a hard Brexit, and Boris Johnson claims to be free from that particular anxiety.

He's a habitual liar so he might not be quite as silly as that makes him sound.

Rare to see something totally accurate, honest and that I agree with.
What you see there is why last week I changed my voter registration from
Republican to independent. What I see totally disgusts me and the GOP
has been hijacked by the orange clown, which just adds greatly to the
problem. Instead of talking about the national debt and deficits, we
are talking about the latest stupid tweet from Trump and whether it's
racist.

Money is not our problem. Our problem is no social conservatives
left in government. The destruction of marriage over the last many
decades was the turning point, or at least a clear indication of the
turning point. If that didn't do it for you, you should see it in
the recent Supreme Court decision (Gamble v United States). Politics
wasn't the issue. The driving force was the belief in ever-expanding
government, just like in the destruction of marriage. Nearly all of
them agreed. Ordinary men no longer matter. All power has been
sucked up into government.

I wouldn't worry about the national debt. It is at most a peripheral
indication of our problems. Contrary to the popular view, money isn't
everything, civility is everything. And intelligence does not equal
civility.

The US has been running a balance of payments deficit since Reagan was in power. This is a problem, but rightwing nitwits like John Doe are happy to ignore it.

Nobody is trying to re-introduce slavery?

The destruction of marriage over the last many
decades was the turning point, or at least a clear indication of the
turning point.

Marriage still exists, and lots of people still go in for it. Living together without being married is more popular than it used to be, and doesn't seem to be creating any problems at all.

People with old-fashioned ideas think that it is immoral, but the fabric of society hasn't unravelled to any perceptible degree.

If that didn't do it for you, you should see it in
the recent Supreme Court decision (Gamble v United States). Politics
wasn't the issue. The driving force was the belief in ever-expanding
government, just like in the destruction of marriage. Nearly all of

A bizarre reading of the case. The fact that a convicted criminal got prosecuted twice for having a gun because it was an offense against state and federal law probably upsets right-wing nitwits, but who else is going to worry.

I wouldn't worry about the national debt. It is at most a peripheral
indication of our problems.

But also an actual problem. You have to pay interest on it, and at some point you won't have any tax income left to pay for anything else.

Contrary to the popular view, money isn't
everything, civility is everything.

It doesn't buy stuff.

> And intelligence does not equal civility.

It's easier to be civil if you don't understand what's going on.

If you have the wit to appreciate that Cursitor Doom is a threat to civilisation as we know it (he doesn't, and that's most of the problem) it becomes inappropriate to be polite to him.
