Perth

Almost 8 hours ahead of the rest of the country?
How do you do that? :)
(You don't happen to drive a DeLorean by chance?)

LOL. Ok Sorry, I didn't even get why you were asking. I hadn't noticed
until now that the time for the post comes off my system time and not
the NG time.
I am at work and am running red hat and do not have admin password so I
cannot even adjust the time on the computer. My IT guy has been told
that the time is not correct, he assures me that it is correct and it is
synchronising with a world time server so could not possibly be wrong.
IDIOT.
At the moment it is 10:47am here in Perth and the computer says it is
6:54pm. I would like to fix this but without the admin password I think
I am shit out of luck.
Once again sorry about that but just take off about 8 hours or so to get
the correct time.
Tell your IT guy to check his settings.
Under "World Time Server" select "Earth" rather than "Mars". :)

Just proves.
An IT guy that runs an "Open Source" operataing system will believe
anything.

Come back to earth and pay for what you use.

I would be happy with Windows. At least then I would have a chance of
fixing the problems myself. The boss has decided that Linux is the
way to go because he believes it is immune to viruses. He doesn't
realise that just because most virus writers hate Windows they target
the Windows environment, that doesn't mean that a Linux hater couldn't
write a virus to exploit Linux's weaknesses.
Having said that, he knows absolutely nothing about computers.
Problem now is that instead of having tried and tested software we
have some piece of crap that a bloke that doesn't know what he is
doing wrote. Couple this with an operating system I know very little
about and an administrator password that I don't know and that leaves
me having to put up with constant problems.
Now before all you Windows haters start up on me, I have no problem
with Linux except that not enough people know anything about it. The
forums here are great, but we have lots of computer specialists
dropping in to try to get our business, until we tell them we run Red
Hat. Then they all say they can't help.

I rest my case Your Honour!

If they're touting for business, of _course_ they can't help. They're
probably all MCSEs - which stands for "Must Consult Someone Else."

And yes, I can and have and do administer Linux systems, and Solaris,
and Tru64, and HP-UX, and Domain/OS, and Ultrix, and SCO Xenix, and SCO
UNIX, and AT&T UNIX, and NEC UNIX, and Motorola UNIX, and BSD, and
AOS/VS, and VMS, and RSX, and Netware, and Windows, and MS/PC-DOS, and
AIX, and ICL UNIX, and Siemens-Nixdorf Sinix, and PyramidOS, and OS/2,
and DG/UX, and OSF-1, and MPE, and OS9, ...

BTW, you obviously have a total luser for an admin, heave a brick at him
next time you see him in the car park.

Cheers,
Gary B-)
