Prediction 1. Incompetent individuals, compared with their more
competent peers, will dramatically overestimate their ability and
performance relative to objective criteria.

Prediction 2. Incompetent individuals will suffer from deficient
metacognitive skills, in that they will be less able than their more
competent peers to recognize competence when they see it–be it their
own or anyone else's.

Prediction 3. Incompetent individuals will be less able than their
more competent peers to gain insight into their true level of
performance by means of social comparison information. In particular,
because of their difficulty recognizing competence in others,
incompetent individuals will be unable to use information about the
choices and performances of others to form more accurate impressions
of their own ability.

Prediction 4. The incompetent can gain insight about their
shortcomings, but this comes (paradoxically) by making them more
competent, thus providing them the metacognitive skills necessary to
be able to realize that they have performed poorly.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Are we sure Kruger and Dunning are competent to comment
on this matter?

Wasn't this called the "Peter Principle" in the 50's?

"People rise to their level of incompetence"

or some such.

At least they think so ;-)

Often true - but imho. that's more a consequence of bad management...

The American Psychological Association would like to give thanks
to Kevin Aylward, who through his constant yet false claims that
everyone who he comes in contact with is incompetent and his
constant yet false claims that he himself is competent,
Here we go again...you do seem to have a Psychological problem regarding
my talents.

Please present some actually evidence that I clamed "everyone is
competant". It is you that has a lack of certain abilities and therefore
try to justify this lack, by attempting to show that you are not alone,
hence possibly that the evaluation was incorrect.

Of all the technically competent individuals in this NG, I know none
that considers me incompetent, only the incompetent do this. Its clear
what side of the fence you sit one.

provides
much of the case materian needed to confirm this theory.

Let's turn off the killfile for a moment and take a random sample
of a typical Kevin Aylward post. Yup, as expected, he writes
"Unfortunately, those TI engineers clearly don't understand
transistor operation. They are wrong. Its that simple." So very,
very predictable... Killfile back on.
Since what I claimed was correct, whats your problem?

Like, why do you have a problem with those that point out people who are
clearly wrong, when indeed they are.

One can easily see just who has the Psychological hang-ups here. You
really do have a bee in your bonnet about me.

The only reason I even looked at this thread, is that, in my view, it
was me who first posted this link to this NG some time ago. I obtained
it from the physics ones. To find you still harping on about, sure shows
you have some serious issues to be worked out.
