OT: Strut/channel foot

Does Superstrut or other strut/channel system make a 90-degree segment that
can be used as a foot? This shelf system from Ikea is similar to what I'm
trying to do in my lab with my existing collection of strut pieces:

2FL-foot+with+4+shelves>

Note, I only need the horizontal foot segment (about 12 or 18 inches long)
that has a square hole on the top that the vertical strut just drops into.
I've got everything else.

I'm using 1-5/8 inch (~42 mm) square strut.

I've searched Grainger and others but see nothing like this.

I'd like to buy off-the-shelf rather than weld one...

Thanks.

And that is strong enough to use?

Could you just fit a shelf bracket upside down.

nah... have a look at the assembly instructions

it's not just a square bit with a hole in the top,
the foot is L-shaped the upright is reinforced at the base.
amd there's three bolts too.

The ones I've seen have the socket for the strut, and then a flat steel
plate that you can bolt to whatever. They sometimes get used to mount a
piece of strut at 90 degrees to a wall.

The one I'm thinking of is this one
http://www.unistrut.us/index.php?WP=cat_detail&S=S05&P=P2072
but one like this may work better in your application
http://www.unistrut.us/index.php?WP=cat_detail&S=S05&P=P2941 . You
could use one of these brackets and another horizontal piece of strut
(or wood or whatever) to make what you want. This bracket goes on top
of the wood or strut, and the leveling feet go on the bottom. You do
have to bolt the vertical strut to the bracket; it doesn't just "drop
in".

If both the vertical and horizontal sections are going to be strut, then
something like
http://www.unistrut.us/index.php?WP=cat_detail&S=S05&P=P1075 or
http://www.unistrut.us/index.php?WP=cat_detail&S=S05&P=P1593 might be
stronger. Again, install leveling feet on the bottom of the horizontal
piece of strut, and bolt the vertical strut to the bracket.

What you want is a #P2484 Unistrut 7-Hole 90 Degree Angle Fitting turned
upside down.
http://www.eberliron.com/415/P2484Unistrut7-Hole90DegreeAngleFitting/category/1267.html

You'll also need a length of strut to cut into your 12"-18" foot bases, and
the nuts and bolts to put it all together.

Yes, I know it's not "just a hole" -- that was a too- (apparently) brief
description. ;-)

I guess I'll have to build such an accessory with another strut piece.

Maybe the diagonal strap ("corner brace") here:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/1542/=m18bm4

It's 1/4-inch material, but no weight-bearing data. I guess it's all
dependent on how it's used...
