OT - slightly - How insane is Leo Simpson?

Anyone read his tripe in the editorial of the latest Silicon Chip?

Unbelieviable. One would expect Leo to possess a brain that is capable
of dealing scientific principles, but no, Leo knows more than all the
climate scientists at CSIRO, NASA, BoM, The Australian Academy of
Science and many others. Sheesh!

Leo seems to be blissfully unaware of the wild fluctuations of the
jetstream, which is linked to global warming, or the rise in ocean heat
content, or the constantly rising temperatures across the planet. Here
is what has occured in Australia:

Leo: Learn some science and stop beating your transparent drum, which
kow-tows to that idiot Tony Abbott and his criminal mates. Hint: Tony
Abbott is a religious fruitcake, who has taken too many hits to the head
and understands zero about science.

Do they publish the editorial in the web so I can read it now?

**NFI. I subscribed to their idiotic web version. I figured I could read
it wherever I wanted. Sadly, their idiotic e-mag insists that the user
be connected to the internet. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I understand why, but
the decision is still stupid. I cancelled my e-mag and went back to
paper (reluctantly).

I'm pissed off with SC, they had an arduino based project in the last
issue. In such a project the software is integral to the operation, in
fact it isn't worth building the hardware without it. SC charges anybody
who doesn't have a subscription an extra $3 to download it.

After paying 10 bucks for their mag, the software shouldn't cost any extra.

Trouble is even the advertisers miss out, as they no longer get a mention on the web version.

It has to be PDF and it has to be cheap, and I believe you could sell a lot world wide. I suggested this years ago.
Circuit Cellar Ink did it in the US and are surviving nicely. A correctly priced PDF electronics mag I feel would do
well in the US and Europe. At least it is worth a try. Has the potential of picking up some good international
advertisers also.

I wrote some articles for the mag that were published when they first launched. One project was printed and completed
over four consecutive issues.

Unfortunately I no longer subscribe. I gave up about a year ago.

Cheers Don...

I wonder if UK mag EPE will take up that project (90% of their
projects originate from SC these days), and if so, will they also try
to charge non-subscribers extra for the software.

It is not exactly unprecedented though. In the past software for some
projects was only available in pre-programmed chips.
