OT: Sarah Palin as vice president?

Looks like a close VP match of Senator Biden of Deleware (844,000)
and Governor Sarah Palin from Alaska (roughly same population). A
liberal pro-choice white male tax and spender against a moderate pro-
life, minority female conservative.

Should be an interesting debate.

So is she really a conservative, or just a borrow-and-spend Republican?

It seems that the whole "small government" crowd gets to the point where
they have to say "of course 'small government' means that _you_ won't be
sucking on _your_ government tit any more" when suddenly they shut up,
spend, and quietly borrow.

Me, I'd rather pay up front than put my grandchildren in debt -- and I
can't even look forward to grandchildren yet.

No. The real match is between two young, inexperienced, unpredictable
political minorities: Palin and Obama.

Do either of them know Ohm's Law? Can they do loops and nodes while
applying Kirkhoff's Laws? Do either of them know the relative merits
of NAND versus NOR flash?

More importantly, do either of them understand the law of Total
Conservation of Money, i.e. money in == money out, i.e. spending ==
taxes, no matter the cleanliness of the linen you wrap it in?

Do you need to implement control loops in software?

Governor Sarah Palin is one of my favorite Republican
politicians, but I am worried about her.

What a biased piece of crap. It soulnd like the character is lusting
after her, and is upset that she is actually doing something with her
life.

I hope you are right. I have gotten very cynical, the last
few years.

I'm afraid that John McCain's run for the White House is now
understood by his financiers to be doomed. This move just
about cuts off any possible criticism J.M. can express about
anyone else's qualifications or experience to be President,
since he is willing to put young and inexperienced Sarah
Palin just one very old man's last heartbeat away from the
Presidency. I think she would have a pretty good chance to
take up that office within a year, if he would win the election.

So now, perhaps his campaign is being used as something that
can still produce a positive by inviting his opponents to
take down the Governor of Alaska, who is not in the pocket
of big oil. Making lemonade out of lemons, if you will.

As I said, I'm worried about Sarah Palin.

Yes, but Palin will draw some of the Hillary vote and push McCain over
the edge. Obama needs Biden to teach him foreign affairs so he looks
presidential.

I woudn't worry about her. She didn't have to accept the nomination.
Even if she looses, she makes her mark in history. And she will have
lots of help preparing for a confrontation with Biden.

It will be an interesting debate, I'm betting Palin will do well,
maybe not destroy Biden, but do a good job.

Here is what I am talking about:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/30/us/politics/30palin.html?_r=3&em=&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&adxnnlx=1220209449-nZIKbJ5S6DNJZyifaR7dnA
on page 2,
"One of her most significant accomplishments as governor was passing a
major tax increase on state oil production, angering oil companies but
raising billions of dollars in new revenue. She said the oil companies
had previously bribed legislators to keep the taxes low. She
subsequently championed legislation that would give some of that money
back to Alaskans: Soon, every Alaskan will receive a $1,200 check."

She has got to be destroyed, but she has an 80% popularity in Alaska.
Plane crashes have been over used. They need to get the Democrats to
do it for them as part of the campaign. If Joe Biden were not a
complete idiot, he would debate her with nothing more or less than
polite, charming and respectful disagreement on the facts with lots of
smiles. The Democrats do not need to discredit Sarah Palin nearly so
much as the Republican establishment does. Her way of thinking and
governing is more of a long term threat to the Republican
establishment than the Democratic party is.

You have to think more than one move ahead for this VP pick to make
good sense.
