engine to find information about \"upnphosts.dll\" in Windows XP.

Easy to understand why the original poster is confused about that being
important, but it has nothing to do with RECOGNIZING the hardware.
Plug-and-play devices are hardware just like every other piece of
hardware. They all require an INF file for configuration.
