It’s not only Western allies that are celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden. Security experts say the news will be a
boon for spammers and malware writers who are set to capitalise on the extradorinary news as it trends across search
engines and social networks.

The demise of bin Laden broke earlier today and has topped trending searches across Google and Twitter.

But scammers are already injecting fake news stories in hopes of fooling Googlers, the Twitterati and spam recipients.

Even the "respected" news sources can't seem to get the facts
straight. One day there is a firefight, the next day we find out that
OBL was unarmed. One day he is using his wife as a shield, the next
day he isn't. One day his wife, or some other woman, is dead, the next
day the bodies are all male, and the wife has been shot in the leg.
One day the Americans are saying that the Pakistans were forewarned so
that they would not scramble their fighters to intercept the
helicopter, the next day we are told that Pakistan was not informed.

Here are the facts:

What actually happened was that OBL and his mates were burning their
secret documents (doodles of the Twin Towers, etc) when the helicopter
appeared overhead. The smoke from the fire stalled the engine, and the
chopper fell out of the sky and crushed them all to death. There was a
brief firefight to save the paperwork. The reason that Obama couldn't
release a photo, or any DNA evidence, was that OBL's body was too
badly crushed and burnt.
