OT: (old) Quadro GPU fins...

There are apparently two (?) different kinds of fasteners
used to attach the stabilizing fins to old Quadros
(FX5800, 6000, some of the Teslas, etc.)

The \"oddball\" fastener I\'ve found to be #3-56 PHMS (which
will likely, also, need a #3 or #4 flat washer to ensure
the head is large enough to adequately secure the fin.

No idea why the idiot engineer couldn\'t have used #4-40
or even #6-32! (odd numbered fastener sizes are not
\"mainstream\")

The designer should have used metric, left handed thread! Or maybe Whitworth.

unfamiliar with 3-56. Perhaps you meant 2-56.

And yes, they are commonly used in miniature assemblies.

We had a cabinet of stainless fasteners and they were called out
and used a lot. Attaching small pot core transformers to the PCB was
a common use when I was at the HV power supply job.

You replied to me about the info in the OP\'s posting. Still, I think it\'s pretty clear he meant 3-56. If he had meant 2-56, that would not be oddball.
