I recall a thread here regarding motor control board problems with
Fisher and paykel washers some time back, my upright model has now
joined that list of dead ones, has a burnt out pump and the board is
dead too and isn't economical to fix for a 10 year old machine. in my
opinion.

Before I go out and spend a fortune on a new one, has anyone got
suggestions on a good brands/models that are known to be relatively
trouble free and will last ? looking for around 5-6kg range.

many thanks in advance

suggest you check out your home insurance policy as well - my old simpson
machine died last year (motor fusion) & i got a nice fat cheque from the
insurance company that paid for half a new machine (bought a westinghouse
tank of a thing, looks like it's built to last, no electronics to die etc..
we'll see though ;)

cheers,

timbo.

Try a Maytag, minus the coin slots. If they can put up with abuse from
public use they must be doing something right.

US or Canadian made GE or Maytag; they last forever. I have a
GE that is about 25 years old still working and looking as new.
A $30 bearing did fail recently and I did have to wait for it to
come from the US so I bought a new GE; identical to the old one
sans minibasket. Now I have 2 both working fine.

Make sure you consider front loaders as they save a huge amount of water and
power! Check here:

Virtually anything from that era was a brick-built shit-house, no guarantee
of what's produced to day though.
