OT: Fridg (icemaker?) Crapping out (UA)

yet another ot post to my favorite ng's, the 'UA' is my
idea of: 'mia culpa' = 'usual appologies', and for the usual
accolades (which are spot-on).

anyhoo, my 13 yr old Kenmore 20' side/side is running the defrost strips
constantly, just in the past day or so. many years ago, we had a newer Kenmore
shutdown completely and Sears came the same day and fixed it in about 30min.

the guy explained, "it's common with the new icemaker, which controls the
defrost cycle...". this is suspiciously similar, but the box is basically
working, just not keeping ice frozen, and the strips are _hot_.

the earlier unit was a top freezer and i swore not to buy another with an
icemaker. dumb, huh? any suggestions for a (very) handy man will be very
welcome. at this age, i would be happy to defeat the icemaker if that 'fixes'

does anyone have advice as to how to find email addresses of long
lost friends or relatives? i have tried a few things but w/o _any_
success except for my own name and one nephew.

i _know_ some of these folks are 'computer literate' and have been for
decades. why can't i find them? thanks! --Loren
