Posted this where the experts are supposed to be but no answer(mozzilla
support firefox)

Any clues?

Brother just Installed or updated Firefox, not sure which but he now gets,

Firefox homepage change notification
revert to my previous page
or
continue with the new homepage

and no matter what he does after entering google in tools options as
start page it keeps putting the same popup that you have to answer every
time it starts.
it does not matter which box you tick.
is there any way to stop this annoyance and just start on google?

Maybe use mozbackup to save his bookmarks etc. then
uninstall/reinstall, possibly to a previous version?

A more convenient way to do a similar thing would be to "refresh" the user
