I'm seeing 3, 4 or more duplicates of some posts these last few days.
Enquiries point to a problem at Google Groups, who have had
intermittent server errors.

Hi Terry,
Why do people use Gooogle Groups anyway, why not something like Forte
FreeAgent?

Just wondering, I cant figure out why people use GG, unless you live
in cybercafes

( I'm not trying to start a war)

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

My guess is that some are infrequent newsgroup users who have never
set up their newsgroup reader to subscribe etc. And I reckon some also
arrive in a Google Group as a result of a search, and either reply or
post a new thread from there.

No, the problem is their new interface doesn't do anything to keep out
duplicate posts.

It used to be that if you tried to post, and something happened, if
the post did indeed go out you'd get a message saying that you'd already
posted. So only posters would notice the server errors.

Now, the rise in duplicate posts is not because there are more
server errors (there may be, but that's a separate matter), because
google isn't catching the duplicates and not sending them out.
