What's the deal on Fred Thompson? Didn't he do a stint in Congress,
but then go back to acting?

Thanks,
Rich

As an actor he goes by the name Fred Dalton Thompson. Has been in such
movies as Hunt for Red October and Class Action.

Yeah, thanks, but I know who he is as an actor - I can't shake the
idea that I've seen him in a real live congressional thing, where he
was an actual, elected congressman. I have no problem with hallucinating,
it's just that if I am, I'd rather know the difference, and obviously,
to know whether I'm hallucinating, I need a POV other than mine.

So, was he really a real live elected congressman for awhile?

Thanks,
Rich

Actually, Fred was a Senator... That is much more lofty than
congresscritter.

Yes, he was elected Senator from Tennessee in 1994 and 1996, taking Al
Gore's seat. He retired in 2002 to go back to acting.

I think both senators and representatives, in a clump, make up
"congress", but I'm too lazy to look it up, and not confident
enough to bet money on it. )-;
