Well actually, no. I think there's a Grand National in the UK and some nag
race in the US that do pretty well.

You unoriginal dickhead.

Quick typing, forgot my name. Have you (and Matt) really *never* heard that
before?? Get real. And okay, I'm a dickhead too for bothering to call him a
dickhead for posting something so dumb, but hey, we're in good company.
Excuse me now, I'll go get a life - I think they're on special today.

Cheers all.

Oh, and okay, sorry Richard. It was uncalled for. I guess my back's playing
up more than I realised. I get a bit terse when it nags me.

Cheers.

As a thin batchelor I quite like the Melbourne cup. All the plump
executives disappear into the television room, and the thin hungry
contractors swoop in on the food tables. ARMP!!

From rec.humor, seems this poster was pretty uninspired as well, even
uses the term dogmeat!;

The Melbourne Cup is known as "the race that stops a nation",
because, well, basically just about everybody drops what they're
doing to watch the race and see if the useless pile of dogmeat they
drew in their local sweep or backed at the TAB somehow manages to
come in a position other than last.

From Epinions.com another person bored with the Melbourne cup;

MELBOURNE CUP - donkey day

....Anyway for those interested in an incredibly boring event, about
twenty five four leggers go flat out just to try and beat the
others...

And that's just what I found with a quick google on the net. I'd be
willing to bet that there's a lot of people expressing complete
uninterest in the Melbourne Cup. One of which is me. I, and about
five other people in my tech. college class didn't stop to watch the
race, despite the offer of free ice cream in the cafe!

Besides, what has all this got to do with electronics?

No, it doesn't. I was driving from Swan Hill to Melbourne
all yesterday afternoon and didn't stop once :)

Of course they must be electronic dog meat - why else would you post
an item like this in a news group for aus.electronics - unless of
course you are that ignorant you are classed as a complete dickhead.

Only in NZ would the country stop to watch Australian "dog meat
running in a circle ......" & give this Aus race the prime spot in the 6pm news above all
other 'less important' news events.

At work, we got some guy ringing up to see if we had a fuse for his TV..
Right in the middle of the race, should have unplugged the Phone system...:<
