Whats the go with the October Silicon Chip Mag.
Where is the usual 4 page advert from
the Electronic Dick.
Jaycar and Altronics are represented,
clearly Dicks are no longer interested
in the hobbyist market unless you are after
toys or telephones.

I don,t know and I don,t care about the wanker magazine

Im surprised they still sell parts/kits for hobbyist
That part of the store is getting smaller & being pushed
further into the corner. Not much profit in selling one 10c resistor.

don't say that they might go the RS way and you might have to buy 100 of
them

100 of them for $500.00!

Purchasing resistors at less than a cent, and selling them for 6c (1/4w mf)
sounds like a pretty good profit.

No, but it gets all kinds of people into the stores where they are
tempted to buy all the other gadgets on display.
DSE make a mottza on kits though, always have, thats why they still
sell them.

Only if the entire transaction (including purchasing) takes than 3
seconds.

I would imagine there there would be very very few ppl who would go in
there and just buy a single resistor. The majority would buy more
than one - and probably other (much more expensive) parts as well at
the same time.

Some places bag up 10 resistors per value & sell them that way.

I have heard of customers placing orders on a _big_ catalogue distributor
asking for 1 off each across the E96 range. That must be fun filling the
order and having the packaging costing more than the sale.
