I have written a numerical optimizer for LTSpice IV. It automatically adjusts component values to meet design targets you set, for example maximum power output and minimum supply current.

You can view the algorithm I have used as AI. Or you can view it as an evolutionary algorithm. Or you can view it as just mathematics and probability.

If you consider evolutionary algorithms as AI then they are certainly the most successful area of AI and the only one capable of achieving human competitive results. The problem with getting them into wide-spread use is simply the time and engineering/programming costs of setting up the modeling equations for them to use. Which is cost and difficulty not to be underestimated.
