No video. Watch out for those shields in RCA projos.

This last weekend, I had an RCA projo house call with a no video
symptom. The chassis is a PTK 195 CT. OSD, sound were all there.
After checking the area of U26901 and U18100, I noticed cracks on
the shield legs of the shield that covers U18100. After removing
the shield, resoldering the legs, and then resoldering the shield,
the video returned. Shades of CTC175 to 187. So watch those shield
grounds.

Ditto that.
I just had a PTK188 with the PIP OBT tuner causing the same problem.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,

PTK188? I just saw one 2 weeks ago with classic HV black blown, new
one fixed it up. My boss says this chassis only two of this was sold
in southwestern Ontario. That's rare and what a MASSIVE, tall
lightbox! One PTK188 sighting even I was working for 2 years for that
shop. I get loads of 17x/18x, 19x, classic 169'ers except 168 yet to
see this also, few 120 & 130's.

Yet to see 170 even we have whole schematic for it.

I've this problem too with PTK197 currently, Only strongest & pure
color shows through. PIP IC on order, those not all are same. There
are at least two kinds of this IC. Resoldered that PIP's tin shield.
Other than that, small pad for small leg of tin shield always cracks.
(lower right pin with RF connector up).

Any comments?

Cheers,

Wizard
