No audio on Magnavox VCR

Hi all,

I have a 4 head, hifi Magnavox VCR, mo.# VRS962AT21 with no sound.Not bad
sound or even poor sound. No sound at all. I like this model because it has
a built in video stabilizer of some sort that enables me to hook my DVD
player through it without macrovision issues.I should mention that there is
no audio from the DVD player when run through this VCR as well so I don't
believe it could be in the video heads or audio head. The unit is in good
working order otherwise.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

-Mac

How old is this machine?

If it's a Panasonic OEM, I would bet that the problem may be the common
secondary caps failue in the SMPS.

This means the power supply will have to be taken out and checked for any leaky
and/or high ESR capacitors. - Reinhart

I would say this unit is a few years old, tops. Distributed by Phillips but
I don't see anything about Panasonic. The ps is built into the main board
and not removable but I don't see any domed caps. I will check for any
leaks, etc.
I did a google search and read about similar machine/problem that had an
open jumper but it wasn't specific.
Will advise....thanks for the response.
