NMC9306 16x16 EEprom

I have made a small Pic program to read this EEprom but can't make it work!
Can anybody here tell me from the data sheet if any instructions (a reset
type or similar) should be performed before I give it a read instruction?

Just set the hardware as per instructions in datasheete and read it.
