Police made an arrest early Sunday in the death of an 88-year-old woman
who was found dead inside a west Charlotte home.
The suspect, Robert Maurice Nixon, 44, was taken into custody without
incident.
Police charged Nixon with the death of Dorothy C. Gregg, who died
Saturday inside a home in the 3800 block of Plainview Road. A spokesman
for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said the suspect and the
victim knew one another but did not describe the nature of their
relationship.
Paramedics were called to the home at 7:31 p.m. Saturday by someone
reporting that a relative was unresponsive. After police arrived and
began to investigate, detectives began to suspect foul play, said Keith
R. Trietley, the CMPD spokesman.
Trietley said homicide detectives worked closely with CMPDs financial
and cyber crimes units.
After detectives interviewed Nixon at CMPD headquarters, he was charged
with murder, breaking and entering, financial transaction card theft and
unauthorized use of a financial card.

homicide detective or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
