Newbie needs help

Hi,

I'm trying to build a timer that measures in .00001 seconds on a momentary
contact switch and display the time between closed and open on a digital
display.

I've been experimenting with an 555 IC and a breadboard but can't seem to
get anywhere.

Could someone please send me a schematic or block diagram of the circuit?
