Newbie: Need help with transistor substitution

Hi,

I have a simple circuit that I am trying to build but the spec asks for a
2SA 1162Y transistor. I realise this is a JIS transistor and I am after a
PNP HF transistor but I am not sure what I should buy. I would preferably
want to buy this from Jaycar as I have one close by.

Can anyone please help me out here?

Cheers

Do Jaycar still have knowledgable young chaps behind the counter? If so,
they might help.

Failing that, take a look at the transistor substitution guides that they
sell, well worth the money IMO.

My vrt databook suggests BC856, BC857, BCW69, BCW70, BCW89.

The BC856 is listed in Jaycar's catalogue as cat# ZT-2133, cost $1.50.

**WES Components have the surface mount version of that device in stock.

Don't know what a JIS transistor is but if it's surface mount you could use a BC856.
If it's not surface mount,the a BC556.
Don't know if the legs match,so make sure you check the pinout is correct.

Thanks a lot. This has been most helpful.

What, the "there is no standard", standard?
