new to cadence

I just started using cadence. I imported a layout and tried to open
with cadence. It opens but I only see white boxes where the cells
suppose to be. I tried everything and can't figure out why I don't see
all the layers. LSW shows all the layers there, just don't see them in
cellview. Any ideas?

Your subcell instances are referencing a library that isn't there. Select
one of your white boxes, and press the "q" key. If you have the standard
bind keys, this will bring up your instance properties menu.

The first line of the form is the name of your library. If that library
isn't in your library manager, or if the cells aren't in that library, you
will see the white boxes.

Depending on how you imported your library, chances are you either have a
standard cell library that you don't have in your library manager, or your
cells copied over but the library name was never updated.

Hi and Welcome !!

The best way in Cadence to figure out this kind of problems is to look
at the messages dumped into the Command Interpreter Window (CIW). The
CIW is the main cadence window. The Cadence's Log file (~/CDS.log or ~/
CDS.log.x) is transcrited in this CIW. So if there is any problem in
importing your layout, the first place to look at is your CIW ...
Personaly, I'm suspecting a 'tech file' attachement problem ...
We can help better if you provide us with what said in your
CDS.log ;-)

Good luck !

Riad.

If the LSW does show all the layers, means that your Lib is correctly
attached to the TechFile.
The CDS.log will be very helpful to debug ...
