Network cables

I have just purchased a network cable tester and some cables test for
having a
'ground' and others don't.

Why is it so?

Because you can get SHIELDED Twisted Pair (STP) and connectors as
opposed to UNSHIELDED Twisted Pair (UTP). Continuity of the shield is
also tested on STP.
