I have a gecko (sic?) in the kitchen somewhere and I want to record when it
calls out once in a while. I figured if I could rig up some kind of 'tape
loop' virtually, using a sound card. Is there any cheap software that could
keep recording over the same file until you run in a hit a button to save
the file off when you hear what you want to record. This probably belongs in
a different forum. Sorry.

Sorry.
Speaking of geckos and electronics, you should watch
them follow a red laser pointer dot. It's as if they're on a
leash.

Creative Labs Tech Corner. SBHPG sb hdw programmers guide ?
whatever. They had the C code to record to/playback from a file. All
it needs is a little modification to overwrite the file. You could
even program in some filters to start recording when the critter
emits.
