Need some basic ftp setup help

My ISP gave me an ftp address ftp.txucom.net to use. I have no idea on
setting it up. I have used FTP sites at work to send and recieve large CAD
files. I am doing freelance cad work and need to do the same thing from
home. I have just always taken this procedure for granted, because someone
else has always already had it setup.
Would anyone mind taking the time to walk me slowly thru the process of
setting this up? I really would appreciate it if you would contact me via my
personal e-mail.
Thank you

It's a simple proceedure, but varies slightly among FTP clients. I use
WS_FTP from Ipswitch, which has a free version available at
http://www.ipswitch.com/downloads/index.html
(bottom of list, "LE" version is free)

Setup merely involves storing your user/password and ftp addy into the
program. Usage is then point and click, or drag-and drop. Since you have
previous ftp experience, you won't have a problem once the info is entered.
You may wish to use the same software as you use at work, but the same basic
information is all that is needed to log into the ftp server; the process
should be similar for your preferred program client.

If I read his message right, he wants to set up a server, not a client...

You may be correct. We'll probably never know for sure, since he expects an
expert to e mail him rather than posting to the thread. Since this is
cross- posted so severely, he's probably forgotten where to look.

If you are correct, his ISPs ftp addy is not going to work for his
purposes.

If he does check back, he may want to look into server software, like:
http://www.ipswitch.com/products/ws_ftp-server/index.html
(free evaluation software is available)
This one runs in the background on your pc, includes encryption and since it
is from Ipswitch--- probably very simple to use.
