I've got a HR-S4600U and there are some issues that have existed ever
since I bough the damn thing.

First the door on the Tape loader will open back up about 1/5 of the
way after a tape is ejected. This happens all the time.

The VCR will sometimes also just power off when a tape is inserted for
no reason. Powering on and ejecting the tape and reinserting fixes the
problem. This happens a lot too.

FF and Rew scan will not have a signal that will allow the display to
detect it. The menus are the same. If you bring up the menus the video
will appear for a second or so then there's a no signal message. This
happens for the menu screens and when scanning. Scanning will also
give two different results, one you can see a static image of the last
thing displayed before the scan started. The other time you will see
the scan motion but the picture is not centered on the screen it's
oriented like this:

----------------------------
bottom right | bottom left
--------------------------
top right | top left
----------------------------

I don't want to put much more money into this thing. I'm trying to
archive some old tapes and giving this VCR it's first real use and
it's giving me nothing but headaches. It was suppose to be a great
VCR... I'm not so sure about this one.

Maybe I can fix this cheaply and get another one for this project.
I've got a lot of old tapes I want to move to DVD. So I need a solid
performer and this one isn't doing well.

I've given the tape door a quick look after opening the thing up and I
can't see much, if anything "wrong". The

Thanks for any help and suggestions.
