need help to repair Searx LXI Projection TV that will not Tu

I have a Sears LXI Projection TV Model Number 626.54462950 that will not
turn on. For several months if you shut off the TV you had to wait at least
12 hours before it would turn back on so I was not shutting it off but it
finally shut off by its self and now it wont turn back on. I have very
limited knowledge of electronics but the set is an old 1990 set I repair
people want more than it is worth just to look at it. So I need to try to
fix it my self. Assume this is a common problem with these sets and someone
will know what part I need to replace. I checked the fuse and it is OK. It
appears to use modular boards. There are several different boards mounted
in deferent areas of the TV. I pulled the AC panel and Convergence Power
Panel to see if I could find anything that looks burnt but did not find
anything. The TV came with a Wiring Diagram but that does not show the
circuits. I have been doing some research on the net and think it may be in
the Stand By power but I do not know where that can be located. Since the
TV was working good with a good picture, I would like to find someway to
repair it if it is cost effective.

Please post the chassis number, if you can locate it, or at the very least
the numbers from the boards in the set. Examples would be similar to APW010
or APW018 with a main board number similar to EMR107.
With this info we might be able to help. Cross reference info for Sears
model numbers is difficult at best.

AC panel and Convergence Power Panel have one number that is the same;
EIA232D printed on the circuit board. The Main Board also has 27R1 OR 31R1
printed next to the words Main Board. The main board also has CNT6389. The
AC panel also has CTN6130 and the Convergence Power Panel has CTN6150. The
Convergence Power Panel has A10365 in Bold Print on the circuit board.
There are also white stickers on the boards that read Assembled in Mexico
that look like assembly numbers. The PTV H.V. Power Supply board has
CTN6160 and is marked as the BM number.

Dave,
If it won't run, not much can be charged up.
Just the input filter cap would hold a charge if the smps doesn't run.
BTW, do check the solder connections on the main power FET as well.
Seen lots of those with the connections wide open.

Bill,

I have the main board pulled and located the Caps you stated to replace but
what is an EFT? I looked at the solder connections on the back of the main
board and a few places look suspicious. For example, the EIA-232 has a
horse shoe shape of pins coming through the bottom but I can see copper
around some of the soldered connections. To fix the solder connections on
the EIA-232, do I remove the existing solder first and then solder?

Bill,

I picked up new caps to replace C460, C455, C450, C431 and C461 and the guys
at Centennial Electronics check out the solder connections for me. I just
installed the caps and IT WORKS! I can not thank you enough for your
assistance!!!!! I can even turn it off and on now. I can't believe it's
fixed for only $3.92. The real test will be to shut it off tonight and see
if it comes back on in the morning.

the Stand By power but I do not know where that can be
located.
Since
the
TV was working good with a good picture, I would like to
find
someway
to
repair it if it is cost effective.
