It's getting cold out here and I need a heater for chopping logs. I
like to make my 1000W Holmes mini heater run medium. Right now it's
built to be stuck on HI and my feet gets burned. So I thought maybe I
can hook several car alternator diodes facing the heater coils and
make it run cooler. Here, take a look at my sketch and please let me
know if this is possible.

Thanks

I don't know what a car diode is rated at in terms of piv but I would
definately use a diode with a piv of 400+ volts and an If of 20 A. This
would provide roughly 50% derating and should work just fine.
