Hello group!
I have an NEC XP17 Multisync with a very minor problem. It has an excellent
picture with good brightness. Today I got a bit of surprise when looking at
the "Display Mode" information panel. The refresh rates and sync polarity
were dead on correct, but the "mode" display was wrong--I run the monitor at
1024x768 and yet it reported I was running 1152x870. It acts this way at all
resolutions...it seems that the actual operating resolution is being
reported as the next supported step up from what it really is--640x480 is
reported as 800x600, 800x600 is reported as 1024x768 and so on...
What's even stranger is that all onscreen controls work fine and all VGA or
lower modes are reported correctly. The monitor is run from a Matrox MGA
Millenium video card that produces correct values with other monitors at the
same operating modes.
It doesn't matter much because so far the monitor works great, but why are
the values for screen resolution being reported incorrectly?
Thanks in advance...
