nc-sim/nclaunch browser refresh lag

Hello All

I'm running NC-Sim / nclaunch 5.20-s002 on a linux workstation.
Immediately after launch and also after launching and closing an
editor from the file browser it hangs for a solid 2 mints with
"refreshing browsers" displayed in the status bar. What the devil is
taking it so long? Any ideas? This is all on my local filesystem.
