Motorola Transistor SP2247

I would like an equivalent substitute for a Motorola SP2247 which is a
germanium PNP power AF amp/switch.
The NTE equivalent, NTE 104 costs about $16. I 'm looking for some much
cheaper. The transistor is used to power
an electronic flash unit made in the 70's. Thanks for your time.....TONY

First off, germanium transistors are nearly extinct today, so I advise
buying one of the $16 ones ASAP, while you can still get them.

And the other point is that the circuit probably requires very low
saturation voltage at high current. Getting a silicon equivalent might
be difficult.

For instance, the NTE104 has a Vebo of 10V, and you can't find a silicon
power transistor with a Vebo that high - they're typically 5V. And
unfortunately in this app, that's an important spec.

One alternative would be Ebay. You can get power transistors for fairly
cheap there. Whether or not they will meet the specs is another thing.
Stick with germanium, though.
