Motor controller needed

I have an electronic project I am working on and need some help. My
Father-in-law gave me a broken electric scooter so I could convert it into a
toy for my son. It is very similar to this item:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=88433&item=5541373232&rd=1

The only thing wrong with this scooter was the electric motor control
circuit was faulty (everything else has been tested and works great).
Unfortunately he threw away the circuit and I am looking for a replacement.
What would I need to power a scooter of this size? Links to web sites or
ebay auctions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Could you not have repaired or had repaired the motor speed controller
instead of just chucking it??

I'm not sure if it could be repaired. It was actually returned to the
distributing company. They weren't getting any cooperation from the
manufacturer in China so they simply gave a full refund on the purchase
price (for the entire scooter). So I'm left with all of the hardware minus
the motor controller. I just said it was thrown away because it is a
simpler explanation.

Hope you have some good luck with it.
