I'd go for really large astronomical grade CCDs.
Some of the really, really big ones hit $100K or better.
And that's without even being space qualified.

There are some big Xilinx FPGAs at Digikey listed at over $4000, and these are by no means the
biggest parts Xilinx make...

Well, that's a card, not a chip... I'd guess there are multiple chips
on that card. Compare with memory boards from the mid 70's that cost
$20K.

Some perspective: street price for an Intel 8080 was circa $300-$500
for a year or two after introduction. Given three decades of inflation
not too different than the $4000-$8000 for the stupendous Xilinx
XCV2600E (although I don't inflation is quite that fast, probably more
like a factor of 4 or 5 rather than 10.)

I know that at least $10K ones are off-the-shelf, as I actually asked
for prices at one point.
