CLAYTON St. Louis County prosecutors have issued at-large warrants for
a 37-year-old man that Ellisville police say taped a woman to her stove
after posing as a UPS delivery driver and forcing his way into her home
to rob her.
Tyson McGuire of the 4900 block of Macklind Avenue has been charged with
first-degree burglary, stealing and kidnapping. His bail has been set at
$250,000.
Police say McGuire, who also uses the alias DeAndre Akens, went to the
86-year-old's home along the 1300 block of Kensington Way Drive at about
3:50 p.m. on April 27. He posed as a UPS delivery driver and when the
victim opened the door, he forced his way in and taped her to the stove.
At the time, he had a mustache, curly hair, blue jeans, tan work boots
and safety pins holding the jacket closed, along with a cardboard box
and an electronic device used for collecting signatures.
Before he left the home, he searched for money and stole several items,
including jewelry.
The woman told police McGuire said he needed money to travel to
California to visit his 10-year-old son who has cancer. He then kissed
her on her cheek and told her he would call police so that they could
free her. She told officers that once he left, she chewed through the
tape to escape and called police.
McGuire is described as a black male, about 6-feet-2-inches tall and 165
lbs. McGuire is known to carry a gun and should be considered armed and
dangerous, authorities said.
If you have any information regarding McGuires whereabouts, contact
Det. Brian Gillaspie or Det. Alan Carter of the Ellisville Police
Department at 636-227-7777.
