Monitor for HF Radiation

A number of years ago I designed a simple radiation detector to check
spurious radiation from microwave ovens. My article was then published
in Popular Science magazine. I checked the circuit now with a cell phone
and with various walkie talkies and it gives a nice reading. The circuit
is a 50 microamp meter with a diode across (I used a microwave diode,
but it should work with any germanium diode as well). The antenna is a
short dipole with arms 2 inches each. I use it for relative readings
rather than to get an absolute radiation value.
