Mitsubishi TV remote control:

Older set, always worked fine, remote just stopped working on TV.

Changed batteries, works fine on vcr/dvd, suspect it is something on
TV itself. Handy with tools, but not really knowledgeable about
electronics. Can I fix it myself, if so how?

Model number would be a BIG help here, as some of the older Mits used a remote
decoder IC that is no longer available, and some others are. There is also a
zener diode on control panel that will change zener value and kill circuit on
some models. I have seen exactly ONE bad IR receiver in last 15 years working
on Mits, so it's unlikely (but not impossible) that it's the problem.

I have no idea if you can fix it yourself or not. Probably not.

You need to troubleshoot the IR sensor circuit back to the system
control to see where the failure in the tv is located in order to
replace the bad part.
