Mismatch simulation in Monte Carlo

Guest
to all the simulation experts out there:

when we do monte carlo simulation, we often choose both process and mismatch (global and local variations) but mismatch is very much dependent on the layout.

so here is my question: what kind of layout is assumed during monte carlo simulation using mismatch option? can i assume the mismatch results represent a best ad most professional layout? or shall i assume the mistmatch results represent the worst layout?

thanks for any hint or comment on this.

Note: i am only talking about schematic simulation not layout extracted view.

w/o having a layout and its effects it should be only variations modeled in the pdk model files.(random+systematic)

When you are using mismatch option only the layout is assumed to super good (i.e, there are no errors or layout dependent effects shown up in the simulation).

Not sure if I got you question correctly.

This depends somewhat on how the foundry has modelled it. Some assume
that everything is uncorrelated (which is not that realistic), and some
assume that the layout has used good matching practices.

You really need to ask the foundry supplying the statistical models to
find out any assumptions they have made for the particular technology
you're using.

Andrew.
