--Anyone got a source for the little books by Forrest Mimms, that
used to be available at Radio Shack? I went there today and the bumpkin at
the counter, who didn't have a *clue* who Forrest Mimms was, said they'd
gotten rid of all their books last year to make room for more *toys*.
Yecchhh!

I don't have a source for those, but I'd recommend writing him or calling him.
I picked out his phone number one day, without much trouble at all, and called
him and he was quite pleasant to talk to. (If he hasn't gotten crotchety over
the abuse scientists are giving him about his amateur ozone depletion and UV
detection schemes or else how his religious viewpoint may be impacting his
judgment about science, I think he'd honestly be very helpful.) I believe you
can reach him several ways with email, as well. I'd just go to the source on
this one and ask, directly.

I bet the catalog still has them - maybe the complete "commercial"
(please, give me a break!) catalog.

You mean the jackass didn't offer to check? The drones are usually
better programmed. I think you need to pull his plug.

How do, steamer. Go to Amazon.com, and punch in

Forrest Mims

for search. The Circuit Scrapbook is there, (not RS version, as described in
other post) along with other stuff he's written.

Wrong spelling on the last name. Sorry.

eBay: Because it's an unusual name, it'll be easy to do a successful
search. Choose the "Search in Contents" option before searching.

I don't have a source for the originals BUT I saw this in the library:

AUTHOR Mims, Forrest M.
TITLE The Forrest Mims circuit scrapbook / by Forrest M. Mims III.
PUBLISHER Eagle Rock, VA : LLH Technology Pub., c2000-
DESCRIPT v. <1-2 > : ill. ; 28 cm.
URL 1) http://www.loc.gov/catdir/description/els031/00689235.html

A 2 volume set, about 9"x12" each perhaps 1/4" thick with lots of
little chapters on different projects. The flavor might be a little
different from the little RS versions but not a great deal.
