You pull the magnetron out and show it to peoiple and ask them what it
is. They haven't a clue since they've never seen one before. When
you tell 'em what it is and what it does, they say, Oh, wow! So
that's how I reheat my pizza!

The transformer makes a good door stop... ;-)

Block the holes up and put fish in it, you could even make them light up if
it still worked.

If the secondary is sawn off and rewound with the correct sort of
wire, it can make a very high powered low voltage transformer . Might
be useful for spot-welding etc (or, powering something needing mucho
amps at low voltage) .

Data . <ST:TNG> . What does "General failure reading drive C:" mean ?

Riker . "Well Data, it means you have lost your hard disk"

Data "OK" (Thump) (falls over)

Riker "Does anyone know where his keypad is ? We need to do a CTRL Alt
Delete"

I have one somewhere that the HV secondary is isolated. I hooked 220V
to it and got about 12VAC out.

If the magnetron still worked, you could then have fish for dinner!

becareful when opening that thing though. I have heard countless stories
about people getting thrown across the room etc

The urban legends abound!
Microwave ovens are probably the most lethal of all domestic
appliances to service if you don't know what you'r doing.
If you'r unlucky, and the bleeder resistor has died, the capacitor
may retain a lethal charge for quite some time.
