Microwave oven trouble.

I accidently left a can in my Microwave oven (it wont happen again). After
turning it on, I noticed sparking and immediately turned it off, total time
on was about three seconds (plus one). It seems to work fine, no visible
damage. Replacing the thing is an option. Is there any health risk of using
the thing after that?

As always, thanks in advance.

Is it still sparking without the can in there? If so then there may be some
damage to the cavity paint, if it's fine otherwise I wouldn't give it a
second thought, microwaves are quite durable, I regularly put lightbulbs,
balls of foil, and other various things in them for experiments, have yet to
cause any damage. My own experimentation has led me to believe that metal
causing damage to a microwave is largely a myth, perhaps originated when the
technology was new and less robust.

My neighbor's have one manufactured in 1974, used frequently and
(apparently) still working fine.

Thanks.
