MicroSim 8 started returning components missing message when trying to
simulate circuits with bilateral switches. Any idea what is causing
this?

Bob,
Need a lot more information than that. Is this on standard parts, or
parts you created yourself? What is the exact wording of the error
message, and where are you seeing it? Be sure and take a look at the
output file (*.out) and see exactly where it indicates the error...

Thanks for replying Charlie,

The MicroSim 8.0 started to show ERROR subcircuit xxxx missing or
undefined or just undefined for all semiconductor parts. All parts
are from the standard parts libraries. Bilateral switches never did
work, showing subcircuit missing.

The same errors show in the message viewer and output file. All
semiconductor parts have one or the other error.

Example messages;

Model D1N4148 used by D_D1 is undefined.

Subcircuit TLC4016 used by X_U1D is undefined. This message occurs
for any bilateral switch tried.

The latest simple circuit was working with a MOSFET. When the MOSFET
was replaced with a bilateral switch the subcircuit missing message
occured. Since then all semiconductors return a either a model or
subcircuit undefined.

Hope you have an idea about how to solve this.

Bob,
Ok, take a look at your simulation settings, especially your setup
options, and make sure that nom.lib is listed. Plus, you need to make
sure that any other simulaiton libraries, other than the standard
ones, are listed there as well. This error basically says that, in
none of the configured libraries, is a model with name XXXXX defined.

Got it Charlie,

Added nom.lib* to library files in library and include window. That
was accepted except for a subcircuit undefined error for the TLC4066.

Had to go back in and specifically ad the Ana_swit.lib file to run a
simulation without errors. The library and include has only the
circuit file, nom lib*, and ana swit* files in the library files
window. Is this normal?

Why aren't all the "lib*" files automatically loaded? Do you want to
add them all, and if so how? Select all?

Thanks,

BobS

Hi Bob,
Normally, they are all loaded, but sometimes, you do something, and
you erase it or remove it, and then you have problems like what you
saw. The usual problem is that you create a new part, and add the
symbol library, but forget to add the model library.

The reason you don't see libraries added automatically, is because
some users have multiple model libraries for the same parts. They use
different versions of the model depending on what simulation they are
performings, such as an AC sweep, or transient, or even Monte Carlo
vs. standard transient...
