Mic for Sharp C770 VHS-C camcorder

Hi All,

I have just acquired this camera.
All works except the mic is missing.
Its a Sharp C770 VHS-C camcorder.
Just after the microphone for it. Can i just use a normal mic?
It has 2 holes at the mic input so not really sure.

I have searched what seems like forever to find any info at all on the net
but to no avail.
