You have probably read on these newsgroups about the family of seven
and their cat killed by their DVD player.

I have set up a memorial fund for their benefit.

Please send cash or money orders to:

The sad part about it is, that there are some people who would be
sufficiently dim-witted to do exactly that.

Will you also accept in-kind donations, such valuable letter bombs?

ONE woman? There are tons of men and women doing this now because of that first
woman who did it and was showcased in the media.

Go the hell away you friggin' cyber-beggars!

Learn to control your spending habits and if you can't...get out of debt
yourselves instead of trying to beg for money from hard working people who don't
expect others to rescue them from any financial problems they happen to have!

Sheesh...

So how long will it take someone to post the article that started this crazy
idea?

The sad part about it is, that there are some people who
would be sufficiently dim-witted to do exactly that.

One woman has put up a web site asking for money to pay off her credit
card debts. So far, she's received $20,000.

That's so annoying, especially for those of us who have the decency to
take
responsibility for our own debts and are struggling to adjust our spending
and get on our feet as a result. Things like that just insure that she
will
keep on spending irresponsibly, because she hasn't had to deal with the
consequences.

Ah come on, I bet you found the website morbidly entertaining. Consider the
payment
a tip to the entertainer for helping you kill some time at her website.

Unlike the request above, at least she was honest about her situation. I'm not
sure I would wand to use the US mail in a scheme to perpetrate a fraud.

I've only heard of her website, never been there, and never would. It would
annoy me to death to see her begging people for money for no justifiable
reason other than her own irresponsibility. I have a website, too....maybe
I should start charging an entertainment fee? ;)

(It's not much, but it's got to be *tons* more entertaining than 'listening'
to someone begging for money!!!)

People may not think much of such people, but at least they aren't
scamming. I think the start of this thread was merely a joke, but
if not then someone is trying to scam people. A website that is
merely asking for money outright is at least honest.

One of the local radio stations had an interview with some woman who
had a website up to collect money so she could get her breasts enlarged.
I'm not sure if she was here in Montreal or elsewhere. It is kind of weird,
yet there actually may be people who for whatever reasons would send such
people money. I'd much rather they get it than someone making up some sob
story that may not be true.

I just saw one of those the other day when someone was hoping for people to
send him a dollar so he could replace his CD collection lost in a fire.
But he threw in some other bits about how hard his life was, which suggested
there may not have been a fire. Odd, he is in Montreal, and I've seen
benefits for fire victims, one time even when it was suggested that
people bring books to replace those lost in the fire; yet in those
cases, it is others trying to help out people they know, rather than
some buy across the globe trying to rake in money.

I was somewhat amused, and bugged, by the email someone once sent
me asking for money because he didn't want to spend money on the internet
any more. I'm supposed to pay for his access along with mine?

Why doesn't she just get married and have her new husband pay off her debts like
