I have a magnavox 25" tv, model no. 25ts52 c303 , chassis 25x605-00bb apart
that is becoming a dog. the set starts up with no sync for about 10 min, then
works fine for 2-3 days, then reverts back to no sync. i have worked as a tv
tech for approx 2 yrs, but i am no longer working at a shop and have only basic
test equipment and no force cd to work with. i've gone thru the usual cold
solder repairs and freeze/heat tests with no results. any ideas would be
helpful.
btw: the set has good osd even when there is loss of sync.

Jeff May:
Check the B+ for proper regulation..... look especially at the 100uf @ 200V
electrolytic near the heat sink..... replace it and your problem may be
solved.

I concur with Dan. When you change that cap , use a 250V rating for better
reliability.

thanks guys...the problems were:
1. main b+ regulator (str30130) floating to 150+volts over time
2. main b+ filter (100uf@200v) low esr
3. diode in lv supply leaky (d406)
i got the first two components nailed down right away, but the diode took me
awhile to tbs. anyhow, a quick trip to the local svc center ($25.00 for these
parts???) and some soldering later, and presto! the set works great.
thanks again,
jeff
