This still sure seems like spam.
Maybe the way to stop this spam is to present a competitor's page every
time you post this one.

Try: http://www.ladybug-tech.com/ At least they don't spam.

And, no, I am in no way related to this other company.

Well, let's test:
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?filter=0&q=sci.electronics.equipment&enc_author=Qa48zQ4AAADzmTtYYtWQ1iBd18U5zqTH&scoring=d
Yup. All his submissions to this group are ads.

Applying the filter:
Is it the 1st post in the thread?
Yup.

Is is 100% commercial ad?
Yup.

Does the name of this group contain any of the magic words:
biz ads forsale marketplace ?
Nope. His submission fails the "legit post" test.

Spam to fight spam? Nope.
You might flag your Subject line with the word SPAM in caps.

Legitimate businessmen know that advertising is a cost of business
--just like rent and electricity.
You might include THAT information in your post.
Those that don't know this, don't deserve your patronage.

Most spammers are low-lifes
who just leave their droppings and move on
They don't deserve access to the places they spam.

Toward that end, here's what YOU can do:
Make a report to his ISP:
http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ptr.ch?ip=81.156.31.195
That's abuse @btcentralplus.com mailto:abuse@btcentralplus.com

Sometimes you get a no-nonsense ISP:
http://groups.google.com/group/sci.electronics.design/browse_frm/thread/7faedb5000ef8c1/417aed0748ddc641?q=zz-zz+This-customer's-account-has-now-been-terminated

Sometimes it takes a critical mass of complaints before the provider
acts.
(Therefore, the more people reporting him,
the sooner the spammer gets his just deserts.)

If he posts to Usenet from somewhere else,
file a report there as well:
groups-abuse @google.com mailto:groups-abuse@google.com

When you make the reports, you might note his Usenet history:
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?filter=0&enc_author=Qa48zQ4AAADzmTtYYtWQ1iBd18U5zqTH&scoring=d
Filtered for spam which is not in spam-tolerant groups, that's:
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?filter=0&q=-marketplace+satori-technology&enc_author=Qa48zQ4AAADzmTtYYtWQ1iBd18U5zqTH&scoring=d

In your post, you might go pedantic on the OP
and explain why spam is inappropriate.
(I once had a spammer acknowledge his ignorance to me
and he gave up on spam after his 1st try.)

Caesar,
Re: your posting style: Top-posting in this group is not the norm.
(Applies to Usenet as a whole; trim and bottom-post.)

In addition, RE-POSTING the SPAM was not the best move.

Ok, I generally don't post often in these types of newsgroups and so I
certainly agree that reposting the spam was a complete waste of bandwidth.
I will accept 50 lashes from an appropriately clad young lady.

However, I never have understood the top-posting disdain. I can
understand this if it was meant to be a long discussion with many posts,
but for short term, single reply items, I think it is better. Of
course, determining in advance what is short term (or single reply) IS
rather difficult! If I could predict that, I would go out and buy a
lottery ticket.

Calls for volunteers have gone out.

I never have understood the top-posting disdain.

The disdain comes when folks
don't trim out the bits that don't apply in any way to the response.
This usually goes hand-in-glove with top-posting.
An extreme example is
a 1-word response followed by a 60-line blockquote.

I can understand this if it was meant to be
a long discussion with many posts,
but for short term, single reply items, I think [top-posting] is better.
Of course, determining in advance what is short term
(or single reply) IS rather difficult!

As the Bard said, "Ah. There's the rub."
High marks on your understanding of the ancillary points.
The baffling part is that
your logic doesn't allow you to then loop back to the starting point.
(Again, proper trimming makes the most-accepted technique
less odious.)
