Greetings group.
Philips VR356/75 vcr.

I found a loose spring about 1cm long.

The vcr loads the cassette, and the guide posts
draw the tape out but stop about 2/3 of the way back.
The motor seems to still be trying to move the guide posts
but is failing.

I tried to manually wind the guide posts back but cannot move them any further.

The cassette moves in and out of the vcr without problem.

Thanks in advance,
Russell Griffiths.

Probably the best thing would be to put the spring back. It will be fastened
at both ends, be careful not to let it snap back into your face.
You might also want to give a few more details so that you will get more
explicit answers.

He wont be able to put the spring back because one of the posts where it
locates will be broken. Part is available from WES. To replace it you have
to remove the reels and slide cam assy...its not too difficult to put back
together (and still have it work) if you know what your doing.

Get a manual for this mechanism. It is pain to work on. Also, while you have
it disassembled, replace mode switch.

Can anyone please give me the WES part number of the part James mentions?
I cannot see it in the catalog.

Thanks,
Russell Griffiths.
