Looking for X-box service info

I have an X-box with a faulty ethernet port and would like to know if there
is any info available to identify the chips and peripheral components that
might have failed. The unit works otherwise.

I might try looking at an old one to see what i can identify on it before
taking the main pcb out of the good one (already had top off to clean
laser). Parts from the old one could be used to repair good one.

I thought it would be easier if anyone knew which components are involved
before opening the thing.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The schematics are only available to factory authorized servicers, no
exceptions.

You are talking about a multi-layer motherboard with greater complexity than
your typical older Pentium motherboard. Not an easy thing to try and fix
without the proper type of specialized soldering equipment.

You're probably out of luck as you can't get schematics for this, and you may be
dealing with really small SMD parts, and a multi-layer circuit board that may be
more complex than a PC motherboard.

Your best bet would be www.xbox-scene.com

The service information and parts are only available to the authorized
servicers for this product.

To service your problem you would be trying to analyse a board that is
extremely complex. It is built up on a multi layer board using high density
SMD technology. Very specialized tools and training would be required to do
component level service in this type of unit. Even the service reps do not
fix these at the component level. They change only the boards, and do the
standard type of programming, and the service of any electrical work that is
necessary.
